David + Jacqui Engagement Portrait

April 4th, 2012

I don’t know about you guys but I cannot WAIT for this Easter break.  4 whole days of almost nothingness – it just makes my heart sing.  (Can you hear it singing?)  We will, of course, be working but just having the phone not ring and the emails not come in makes a world of difference to how much I have to get done in a day and how much stress I feel.  I take a great deal of pride in getting back to people as soon as possible so, once I hear that ‘bing’ you get when the email arrives, I just have to get back to you NOW!  What plans do you guys have?  Anything fun?  I am planning on getting some gardening done, hanging out with friends and their uber-special, wood fired pizza oven (I am just saying this here but they may have to physically remove me from their house because I love pizza SO much!!!)  and a world of odd, little jobs around the house (painting, sanding, staining) so I am hoping that I won’t have any time to turn this dang, old computer on.  When Jason came home yesterday with these great engagement portraits of David and Jacqui I thought – “I’d better get these up quick before the weekend!”  These guys have crazy, hipster cool written all over every amazing piece of their lives.  From the classic detailing of their grandmother’s (and now their) flat, to their hip, retro personal style to their amazing old, classic Mercedes Benz.  They say, you gotta walk the walk to talk the talk – and David and Jacqui are living proof that living with the past is better than living in the present.  If you put your ear to the computer I’m sure you can hear the needle crackle and Frank Sinatra’s, “Come Fly with Me” croon out of the record player followed closely by the swirling tinkle of an ice, cold martini just waiting to be poured.  Hang on guys, I’m on my way…got any pizza????

Cameron + Kelly

February 27th, 2012

It has become something of a rarity these days for people to make the time to let their loved ones know how they really feel about them.  What with the 24 hour work day, juggling demands of a family, telephone, mobile phones, twitter, facebook, the internet, exercise, housework, the list goes on and on – there just never seems enough hours in the day to sit and reflect upon how much the people in your life mean to you and for you to let them know.  As a guest at a wedding – and a family wedding no less – it really does give you that much-needed space to reflect and think about how much love you have in your life and how lucky you are to have it.  Cameron and Kelly’s wedding was a a lovely, simple affair.  Intimate – just we family and close friends.  It was so honest and loving and pure that it made me realise how lucky I am to have married into such a great family.  And I know Cameron is thinking the same thing.  Congratulations you guys – and remember to tell each other how you feel as often as you can…well, at least before that stupid phone rings again!

welcome
