White + White Wedding Nerilee and Michael

We are deep in the process of a rebrand here at Studio Sixty. I love me a good rebrand but with it comes the more, um, difficult stuff about who we are and what we stand for. For a long time I thought that would be clear, because when you meet us, you can get a real sense of the type of people we are. However now in the digital age, you guys spend more time looking at our website, Instagram and Facebook page, rather than talking to us face to face. And with that comes a real need to be clear through all of those platforms about the people we are and clients we want. With so many photographers around, and with new ones joining the ranks everyday, what, you ask, makes us different? After some serious soul searching I think I have an answer. We are honest. What you see is what you get – we don’t outsource any of our work, our work is our own. No one else will touch your files but Jason or myself. A photographer’s tools of his trade are the way he captures an image, and what he then does to process it. Your photographs are 100% by Jason’s hand, as it should be. The real thing is always the real thing. We are professional. That means when you call, email, message or Skype we get back to you that day. We answer our phones, we respond to your emails, we listen to your questions. We have been in business for 22 years and, given it is our business and we do nothing else, we offer the best customer service possible. We do what we say – and while it may not be cool, when you are pressed for time and you need an answer, that sometimes can totally make your day! We are informed. We listen to our clients when they say that they want natural, candid images that reflect them and their story. We strive to achieve that on every wedding. Candid photography is hard, it requires knowledge, experience and skill to be able to be in the right place at the right time. To seize the moment, and sometimes, as if by magic, to make that moment happen. To make sure we know how to keep getting better, we keep staying informed. Better service, better product, happy client. We are fun. Take it from me, or ask around, we take being fun very, very seriously. You can’t mess around with fun, cause it can get away from you, any time. We work for you. One of the things I see in the industry is a desire to build a business rather than service clients. Many photographers say they shoot for themselves on a wedding day as much as they shoot for you. That their blog is about promoting themselves rather than showing your photographs to your family and friends. We don’t do that. We understand that you are the reason we are in this business so we want to do all that we can to make your experience a thoroughly enjoyable one. We want your Nan and Uncle Bob and Aunty Vera to be able to see your photographs and to show their friends. We aren’t in it for us, we are in it for you. At the end of the day, that is who we are at least on paper. If you like the sound of this then why not meet us in person? We don’t bite, except if we are having too much fun. As I said, it can get away from you, that fun…

What does all of this have to do with Nerilee and Michael?  These photographs show what true candid coverage can look like.  Real love, real emotion, real laughter.  Brimming to, and well over, real really real.

Peter + Nadia

March 2nd, 2015

I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned that I am obsessed with twins.  I babysat a pair of identical twins when I was younger and they totally fascinated me.  They were so hard to tell apart, it was near impossible.  And they seemed to completely understand what each other was thinking, like telepathy.  I often would check up on them while they were sleeping and they were wrapped up asleep together like they couldn’t bear to be apart.  I have a sister and we are very close but this took closeness to another level.  Why am I telling you this?  Well Nadia is a twin, and an identical one to boot.  Her sister was working with Peter and thought he would be perfect for Nadia so she set them up.  That is like the perfect blind date really because it must be like you setting yourself up!!!  Totally awesome, right?  And maybe a little bit weird?!  But then again twins are something most of us will never fully understand.  So here are the lovely photographs of Peter and Nadia – enjoy!

Peter’s suit is by Hugo Boss.  It fit him like a glove and is a great long term investment!

Nadia’s stunning dress was by the fabulous Anne from Bertossi Brides.  It’s those little details, like the ‘something blue’ bow sewn inside the gown that make your dress extra special.

The beautiful flowers were by Marion Martin at Brisbane Market Flowers.  Such amazing colours!

pnw0012 pnw0013

Her bridesmaid dresses were by Alannah Hill in that perfect and totally now dusky blush colour.

The girls’ makeup was by the fabulous Linda Watt and their hair and makeup styled by Rebecca Calvert.

Married by family friend Fr. Jerome Watt and in the beautiful St Agatha’s Catholic Church there would be no better way to start your new life as husband and wife!

The reception was held at Restaurant Two – masters of amazing food and professional service.  The amazing cake was made by Peter’s sister, Cathy.  It looked totally delicious!!!

The band were the always amazing Rush Entertainment.  As you will see later one, the party was well and truly pumping to their amazing sounds!
