Rainy Days
If you have been reading this blog for a while you will realise that I haven’t done an outfit post in a long while. The last one I did was a little harrowing and so, because of that I have been a bit gun shy. However recently I have been chatting to my friend Adam about how much great fashion is going on in Brisbane and I realised that I should just get over myself. I am by no means a fashionista, but I am a woman who loves clothes and loves how they can transform you, lift your spirits, make you feel safe, give you joy. So I am taking a leap of faith here and offering you my latest rainy day outfit.
I seem to be gravitating towards polka dots as a backlash to all the stripes we have been seeing and, of course, that pop of colour with my turquoise jeans.
I am amazed at how navy is making a comeback into my life. When I was younger I remember my mother telling me that I could either have black or navy as a base neutral in your wardrobe. I, of course, choose black – I mean c’mon – I grew up in the era of grunge and punk. There was no room for navy! But now, as I get older, black on its own can seem a little too, shall I say, harsh. I also love mixing navy and black – it is something that seems such a no-no which I guess is why I do it. It is great to have a new colour to play with and when I am shopping now I am so less frightened to buy a navy shirt or coat or shoes anymore. In fact – if you look at that I’m wearing – I bought all three!
