Chance Encounter of the Third Kind

December 5th, 2010

Jason has no qualms walking up to a complete stranger and asking to take their photograph.  If I am with him I just want to to die of embarrassment.  I mean this is a person who can’t even ask for directions!  When I was younger I was petrified to order a pizza over the telephone – don’t ask me why because I have no idea and really don’t want to know what is wrong with me.  This photo however was taken by Jason sans me.  It kind of sums up how we are both feeling at the moment – a little like shark bait.  What do you think this guy does for a living?  Computer hacker?  Professional ice-hockey player?  Mining engineer?  What do you reckon?

Bespoke Press

October 16th, 2010

Being the extreme lover of packaging that I am, invitations are one thing I would definitely want to get right.  As they are the first thing your guests receive they really do set the tone for your wedding.  They are also a lasting reminder for your guests as well as offer an opportunity to show off your personality and give people a good idea of what kind of event they will be attending.   I have been in love with the work that Bespoke Press do for a good while now – clients of ours, Kimberlee and David, used their services for their invitations – and from then on I have been completely enamoured.  The lovely, thick, cotton, paper stock they use and the classically styled letterpress text and graphics are absolutely beautiful!

So I did what any typical fan would do, I wrote to Alischa and asked if she was interested in getting a portrait done!!   I suggested she could do the portrait with her husband and business partner Hayden and their gorgeous dog Ruby Tuesday (who seems to run the joint but then dogs do that don’t they?).  (As an aside Ms Tuesday seems to have the same job title and description as me!). Luckily Alischa said yes and here is the result.  I could offer you a bit of her story here but I probably wouldn’t do it justice so check out her website.  Bespoke Press also produce prints and swing tags and cards and gifts if you are looking for something extra special.

Bespoke Press have two presses which they have lovingly named – Herbie (born 1973, pictured above and below) and Charlie (born 1893, pictured last) – friends for life or rivalling brothers – perhaps a bit of both.

Here we are in action!

I feel a purchase coming on…

Alischa does all of the graphic design herself as well as the hand printing – seriously how talented can you be??

welcome
