Lash Me

May 30th, 2011

Let me tell you, this wedding business, it’s a contact sport!  Here I am putting my body on the line in the name of research to bring you the best beauty advice EVER for your wedding day.  I know, I know, there is no need to thank me…it is all in a day’s work here at Studio Sixty.  Now huddle up because I have the beauty tip to end all beauty tips that will make you look so gorgeous and so natural on your wedding day that your groom won’t know what hit him!  It all started when we were at the Queensland Brides Wedding and Honeymoon Expo and I was luckily positioned across from the wonderful women from Lash Me.  I have okay lashes but they aren’t great, if you know what I mean?  They are kind of long and dark but they go straight out from my eye, almost downwards, so I am forever trying out different mascaras and curling them to try and open them up.  I have rather deep set eyes so it really helps make me look – shall we say – brighter if my lashes are curled.  My girlfriend Wilhelmina had lash extensions done for her wedding and they looked pretty spectacular so I was aware of the idea of semi-permanent lash extensions but had never actually tried it.  To cut a long story short I got a card for Katrina from Lash Me and booked in an appointment for a full set of mink lashes.  I mean, I really just did it for you guys cause that is the kind of girl I am!  I put myself out there as the guinea pig and took one for the team.  Well – the results you ask?  What can I say?

T-O-T-A-L-L-Y A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!  I was shocked – they are so amazingly long and luscious I could not believe it!  And they look so real!!!  I have had them now for about three weeks and only one person has asked whether they are real but so many have commented on how well I look.  I mean, that is the secret isn’t it?  You want to look like you but just a better, more beautiful version of you.  Especially on your wedding day!  You certainly don’t want to walk down the aisle and have your groom think “I don’t know that girl, who is she?”  And the kicker – Jason loved them too – which is saying a lot because he always often doesn’t notice these things at all – BOYS – you know what I mean???

So I hear you ask, was it painful?   Honestly I was pretty scared going in.  I have very, very delicate eyes and I am a total wuss.  I am the girl who needs her hand held when she gets her lashes tinted so I was gearing up for some major discomfort.  I was ready for it but Katrina was very gentle with me and, to be honest, it really wasn’t too bad at all.  A few tears were shed (mainly because of glue fumes) but nothing, NOTHING compared to, say waxing!  Katrina started by taping down my lower lashes to make sure they didn’t get in the way and that was probably the most uncomfortable bit .  After that, all I had to do was just lie there and let Katrina do all the work.

Each mink lash is individually glued to each real lash – they are sized differently so they blend in with your natural lashes and because they are glued together they also manage to curl up your lashes as well.  Full, curly lashes I mean – c’mon – who doesn’t want that?  It is a painstaking process but Katrina and I gossiped shamelessly through the whole thing.  (As you do!)  So much so that we were still chatting away fervently when I was walking out the door!!!  It took about an hour to do a full set and when she was finally done I was just totally blown away by the results – it was amazing!!!

You guys just have to try it – I guarantee you will love it.  There are two Lash Me locations – one in North Lakes and one in Paddington.  You just need to give Katrina a call and she’ll book you in.  They are very busy (because they are legends and obviously I have been living under a rock somewhere not to know this) so call and book in advance to make sure you get in.  I have already booked in my refill and am so excited – I am addicted!  No more mascara and no more pinching my eyelid in the stupid eyelash curler!!!  I have shaved 3 minutes off my makeup routine – that is 18 hours of my life I have back to do other, more important things…um…like…I’ll figure it out…just give me a minute here…

welcome
