Brisbane Wedding Photography – Geoff + Tarryn

August 23rd, 2012

Given my last name is the very, very Scottish Ogilvie you can pretty much guess that I love a man in a kilt.  My family tartan is something I am very proud of – as all of us good Scotsmen/women can attest.  I often say to people that I am related to the Queen of England.  Laugh if you will but the current head of the Ogilvie clan is the Lord Chamberlain to the Queen and Angus Ogilvy, who is the brother of the Lord, is married to Her Royal Highness, Princess Alexandra.  BAM – less than three degrees of separation and I’m royalty, baby!  I am still, however, waiting for my invitation to the royal wedding!  Ahem.  My royal blood aside, I really do love it when a groom has the hoots-pa to wear a kilt to his wedding.  There really is nothing more macho then a man in a skirt.  I’m pretty sure Tarryn would agree with me, wouldn’t you?  Geoff and Tarryn had the most wonderful wedding followed by the most awesome honeymoon.  Their ceremony was in the beautiful, intimate Latrobe Chapel followed by a fabulous reception at Hillstone St Lucia.  Their honeymoon is a 6 month long skiing and mountain bike riding trip in Canada.  I am totally green with envy.  Oh well, I will just have to be content with my blue blood and curtseys.  You all better start practicing now…

Andrew + Lei

September 26th, 2011

Normally before any wedding, Jason heads out and scouts for locations.  He likes to check out the church and reception venue and then drive around the surrounding suburbs to see, you know, cool stuff.  This normally happens on a Friday afternoon and I am normally with him, grumbling and cross at having to drive around aimlessly not knowing what we are looking for.  Of course Jason knows what he is looking for – but, as you can imagine, for me, it’s not the most ideal way to spend a Friday afternoon.  But for this wedding some of the locations has already been selected by our clients, Andrew and Lei, some locations were just non-negotiable.  Andrew and Lei met and fell in love at the University of Queensland with Andrew even proposing at the Pizza Caffe at the Schonell Theatre (which seriously guys, has, hands down, the best pizzas in town – they super crispy and amazing toppings.)  Given that Andrew and Lei were already having their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Hillstone St Lucia – it was easy!  I think it is really special that all of the locations in this wedding are meaningful to Andrew and Lei – that they were significant in bringing them together.  Photographs have a way of capturing emotions and memories in them, like mini time capsules – not only can you recall when the photos were taken but so many things associated with that time and place.  Thoughts, smells, feelings, conversations – they all come flooding back when you look at a photograph.  Andrew and Lei now have those memories locked away, forever.  Thank you so much for including us in your trip down memory lane and here’s to many, many more memories to come.

Andrew and Lei had some hilarious personal vows that kept everyone laughing through the ceremony.

welcome
