Country Wedding Photography – Matt + Emily

December 5th, 2012

Matt and Emily got married, on one of the wettest days of the year, at her family property in Tenterfield.  Jason shot this wedding a few weeks ago but I haven’t been quiet sure how to show you everything I love about it!  Every single detail of this wedding is so lovely that I’m not quite sure where to start.  From the flowers to the marquee to the dresses to the suits to the shoes – each and every detail so well considered yet personal and meaningful.  I could go on (and you all know that I could!) OR maybe I should just stop talking about it and show you all…

The picturesque cottage garden at Emily’s family home in Tenterfield (for one of the only moments it didn’t rain!)

Matt’s bow tie was by Alexander McQueen from Mr Porter.  A little bit British dandy, a little bit high fashion style and a little bit rock and roll!

The fabulous flowers by the one and only Kate Dawes Floral Design.  The boys buttonholes were rosemary, tiny roses, kangaroo paw (reflecting the country setting) and peonies.  I also love the floral shirts the groomsmen are wearing – spot on and on trend!

Croquet anyone?

More beautiful flowers including a decorated bullocks head with hydrangeas and native grasses.

Emily’s champagne dress is by the spectacular Paul Hunt.  He is the master!  Diaphanous and swirling – a dress perfect for your wedding day!  I am in awe of the use of patterns and textures in the bridesmaids dresses.  This wedding really reflected the bride’s unique sense of style as well as the beautiful Australian bush setting.  And those shoes!  I swoon!

Even though most couples aren’t terribly happy about a rainy wedding day it sure does make for some spectacular photographs!

With a wedding as sensational as this one Emily turned to Angie from Tickled Pink Events to help coordinate and plan the event.  She did an amazing job!

Congratulations Matt and Emily – it was some enchanted evening

Patterns and Prints
Hands down September has got to be my favourite time of year.  (I know it is your favourite time of the year too given how busy with weddings we have been!!!!)  The weather here in Brisbane is that perfect blend of warm sunshine and cool breezes – so you can still wear your jeans comfortably (you know, not like in summer when you worry if you put them on you may not get them off!) and you can mix them with lighter, gauzy fabrics and then layer heavier ones.  I love a jumper-short combination outfit myself.  Something about it not “going together” that makes me love it even more. I also love boots and shorts but that is another conversation entirely!  For this outfit, I would pair it that with a heel (Swedish Hasbeens, of course! And look – they are on sale!!!) and a great pairs of Karen Walker Number One sunglasses (particulary if they were given to you by that someone special in your life – thanks Jason!) and you have a great, GREAT outfit.  Day, night, work, play.  I am also totally loving the mixing of prints that will be super huge this season.  My old friends from the old days will tell you that in the early 90s I went through a crazy, colour-discord phase that, if I am really honest, has never left me no matter how minimal and black-and-white I try to go.  Green and blue, blue and black, purple and orange, green and pink – I love it all!!!  So tell me what are you guys wearing this spring?  Anything you reckon I just have to have?  My credit card is at the ready!

welcome
