Adam + Jasmine Engagement Portrait

July 14th, 2011

I was just looking back on our recent posts and see that it has been a while since we posted an engagement portrait.  Oops!!  I can say it is not because we haven’t been doing them – we have – but it is because we are getting whacked with a bunch of end-of-financial-year commercial work.  It is funny because when the wedding season slows down and you would think we could catch our breath and recharge, our busiest commercial season kicks in!  There just never seems to be a down time.  You all know by now how much I love the engagement portraits Jason does.  Adam and Jasmine were really excited about doing these shots (well Jasmine was at least, but we totally understand that don’t we girls???) and they just look amazing.  I hope you like them guys and we can’t wait for the big day – not long now…

Beau + Lauren

June 20th, 2011

We have been trying to shake things up here at Casa Studio Sixty.  See?  Even just using the word casa is a bit risque don’t you think?!  We are daredevils really – hiding out in the bodies of photographers and studio managers.  We fear nothing – being shot out of a cannon – ho hum – being thrown to the lions – whatever – jumping off a cliff – yawn.  To keep things fresh around here, we strive to do them a little bit differently – to push the envelope if you will.

We usually do our engagement portraits in some beautiful, outdoor, location somewhere – a location that we choose and scout and like for silly photographer reasons. But does that location actually mean something to the couple?  To be honest, not usually.  And do they look at their photos and think about their special, meaningful time spent there – um, well, actually no.  So we thought why not shoot an engagement portrait in the couple’s home?  We can take photographs of all the things that really mean something to them, letters, gifts, favourite spots to think and dream and hang out, right there in their own homes.  We had been toying with the idea when we met Beau and Lauren so when we suggested it to them they were keen as mustard.  So here are the photos – a work in progress – but then again aren’t we all just that, a work in progress?

welcome
