Coffee, Tea and Me
My girlfriend who is ALWAYS in the know about cool places to go found this great new hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in Milton. The Bunker is run by a couple of guys (Marcus and Clinton) who love coffee and their fixies – what more could we ask for? They have turned an unloved, overgrown garage into a great, cool coffee spot all off their own back (and the fitout is great – simple and handmade). They serve BlackStar coffee which ticks all the fair trade, organic, environmentally friendly boxes and is (wait for it) delivered by bicycle – double hurrah!! They also use Barambah Organics milk which is locally produced and organic from some of the happiest cows in Queensland. So if you want a great coffee pop over to The Bunker on Railway Terrace (adjacent to Park Road near the train line).
As anyone who knows me can vouch, I love my coffee!! But much to my horror I have recently developed a crazy caffeine problem. I get the shakes really bad, can’t concentrate and have to lie down for about half and hour until the symptoms go away. It has made me rethink the amount of coffee I have during the day. As a way of supplementing my coffee addiction, I now get a hot chocolate which is nice but is full of sugar (especially since I add a marshmallow or two) so now I am seriously considering tea. Tea, as we all know, is full of antioxidants and good stuff and Kelly, one of our lovely clients, has given me a gigantic tea ball from her company, My Little Tea Pot to try. While it doesn’t kick you out of your seat it does have a lovely sweet flavour and doesn’t make me want to curl into a ball rocking back and forth. Being a tea newbie, does anyone have any tea-tips for me? Flavours to try?? Foolproof brewing techniques???
