Giving Girly Gifts

May 18th, 2011

In my daily trawl through etsy I am always looking for things for me to buy things for you guys that will help personalise your wedding day.  One of the things I remember most about being a bridesmaid was the lovely gift my girlfriend Natalie gave me to say thank you for being there for her on and before her big day.  They were the earrings I wore to the wedding but throughout the course of the night and after few too many champagnes…and some head banging on the dance floor…and…um, perhaps some stage diving and…well, yeah…some moshing too, I managed to lose them that very night.  Oops.

Anyway, I have found these lovely little purses on etsy from Humoresque which I think would make great presents for your bridesmaids and they will, ahem, totally last longer than one night (possibly because they will remain on the table during the crazy dancing part – and don’t be pointing fingers cause I have seen the pictures – you ALL have crazy dancing!)  Made in beautiful Japanese fabric these purses are just super cute, don’t you think?  Humoresque do custom orders but I have to say that I love the fabrics they have chosen – both outside and the lovely contrasting fabric inside.  You could even write a lovely note to put inside each purse to let your bridesmaids know how much they mean to you – because with all the champagne and, um, festivities on the day, you might find it hard to recall what you did said the next day.

Let It Snow

March 18th, 2011

Bring on winter I say!  I know I have said it here before but I love the cooler weather.  Summer clothes just don’t suit me – I seem to overheat in the loosest of dresses so I spend most of summer bolting from one air conditioned place to another watching my makeup run and my hair frizz!  It seems that ever since I started running sweat pours out of me like a river at the slightest movement.  It is disgusting.  No, seriously – it is not a good look.  As my way of attempting to conjure up winter, I recently bought a pair of Wrist Worms by Sandra Juto.  They are lovingly hand made and, although they come in wool,  I bought the cotton/linen blend which is perfect for our very mild winters (the title of this post was a bit of a a joke – if it ever snowed in Brisbane I think we end the debate about climate change!)  I love looking at Sandra’s blog – her photos are so inspiring and I love how different her life is in the northern hemisphere – all that snow just makes me very, very jealous!

This is pretty hilarious – here I am in a singlet top with gloves on!!!

They are fingerless but there is a right and left hand…I haven’t quite figured it out yet.

I love the little calendar I received as well and the thank you card.  Such a personal touch.

welcome
