Instagram Outfit Posts

July 11th, 2012

If you have been reading this blog for a while (like a long, long while) you would have remembered that I used to do outfit posts.  Every now and then, I would post a photograph of my outfit for the day and talk about fashion.  It didn’t really go so well or rather I got all sensitive about the comments posted and just stopped doing it.  However I have recently signed up to the #pipsinstagramlookbook challenge on Instagram and am loving it!  The lookbook challenge was created by Pip from the blog, Meet Me At Mikes (if you are interested in awesome creative and contemporary craft projects check it out!) and the aim is for you to take a photograph of your outfit every day.  I am amazed that people from all over the internet post their outfits for the day.  If you are interested in following me on Instagram just search for sallyogilvie or if you want to follow Jason – and let’s face it his work is WAY better than mine – search for starrman.  Jason’s instagrams are located on our website too – just over there, to the right! Come and join me in the lookbook challenge!  I would love to see all your outfits…now I just need to figure out what to wear today…

Rainy Days

December 13th, 2011

If you have been reading this blog for a while you will realise that I haven’t done an outfit post in a long while.  The last one I did was a little harrowing and so, because of that I have been a bit gun shy.  However recently I have been chatting to my friend Adam about how much great fashion is going on in Brisbane and I realised that I should just get over myself.  I am by no means a fashionista, but I am a woman who loves clothes and loves how they can transform you, lift your spirits, make you feel safe, give you joy.  So I am taking a leap of faith here and offering you my latest rainy day outfit.

I seem to be gravitating towards polka dots as a backlash to all the stripes we have been seeing and, of course, that pop of colour with my turquoise jeans.

I am amazed at how navy is making a comeback into my life.  When I was younger I remember my mother telling me that I could either have black or navy as a base neutral in your wardrobe.  I, of course, choose black – I mean c’mon – I grew up in the era of grunge and punk.  There was no room for navy!  But now, as I get older, black on its own can seem a little too, shall I say, harsh. I also love mixing navy and black – it is something that seems such a no-no which I guess is why I do it.  It is great to have a new colour to play with and when I am shopping now I am so less frightened to buy a navy shirt or coat or shoes anymore.  In fact – if you look at that I’m wearing – I bought all three!

welcome
