Paul + Annina

October 3rd, 2014

Can you feel it?  Summer is on its way!  The days are getting warmer, the nights, almost balmy. For some unknown reason to me, this winter has been hard.  Too cold, too dark, too…something.  Normally I dread the summer with its long, hot, sticky days but I can tell you this summer is going to be good!  My plan is to spend all of my time on the beach – plan?  Maybe dream, you know what I mean.  But before summer starts to really shine you get spring, her sexier, sweeter cousin.  And when you work in wedding photography, nothing heralds spring than wedding season.  I mean how could you not want to get married in this weather, with all its blue skies, bright sunshine, cool breezes?  So today on a gorgeous, simply perfect day, I give you Paul and Annina and their lovely, love-filled wedding.  With their ceremony held on the lawn of the Powerhouse and their cocktail reception just inside, Paul and Annina were aiming for a fun and casual wedding focussing on making it easy on their guests and giving them maximum time to party!  They were married by the one and only Paul Voge Marriage Celebrant who, a part from being an all round awesome guys, is an photographer’s dream by popping out of frame at those crucial, photo-worthy moments.  You may not be able to see him but I can assure you, he was there!  Annina’s dress was by Bertossi Brides, her spring flowers by Flower Lovers and her gorgeous hair and makeup by those super professionals, The Powder Room.

As you all now about my L.O.V.E. for any and all dogs, this here is Rueben.  He’s mighty awesome and features heavily in the wedding.  I’m happy to babysit this dude anytime, anywhere.  That face, GAH!

The stunning blackboard is by the always fabulous but better-get-in-quick-or-you’ll-miss-out, Blackboard Artworkx.  The lovely pot of daisies were for Annina’s dad who passed away a few years ago.  My mother was a lover of daisies too and now that she too has passed, I think it is such a lovely sentiment.  I’m sure your dad was there in spirit, Annina.

A CHEESE CAKE!!!!!! That is a cake made entirely of cheese.  Anyone who knows me well, knows of my love of cheese.  Any type, I’m not fussy.  So this new trend is rocking my world.  Paul and Annina’s version was made by Colin James Fine Foods.  I’m not sure who did their gorgeous cake topper but leave a comment if you want to know and I’ll ask.  Paul and Annina coupled this cheese cake with a ham bar.  Does anything go better than ham and cheese?  I mean, really??

Paul and Annina had a visitor’s book that consisted of hand written comments form guests and silly polaroids.

The band that got THIE PARTY STARTED was Radio Club Band.  Versatile, professional, fun – these guys can get your granny to get down!!!!  Funktastic!

Something totally unexpected and tremendous that Paul and Annina did was commission Soymilk Weddings to do an animation of their love story.  Not only is it a gorgeous keepsake from the day, it wowed their guests!  I simply love it – so please take the time to see “Paul and Annina – How it all came to be!”

Brooks + Charis

September 29th, 2014

What’s that famous phrase? It takes a village to raise a child.  Well I’m here to tell you that is takes more than a village to host a wedding!!!  So many people come together to make your wedding day what it is – friends, family, wedding professionals – all working together to make your day personal and unique.  I asked Charis to send through some of the details that made her and Brooks’ day so special and it read like an Oscar’s acceptance speech.  So many people to thank, so much love.  I felt like I owed it to Brooks and Charis to reveal how thankful they were for everyone’s involvement on their special day.  In Charis’s own words here they are:

Our celebrant Paul Voge Marriage Celebrant – he did a brilliant job and we were so happy to find him. He was everything we never knew to look for in a celebrant   – it ran so smoothly – almost like we knew what we were doing!
Our ‘chauffeur’ Locky who was going to drive us in a Wilfred outfit …but the material didn’t arrive in time.
My grandmother, Dell Sutton, who lent me her mothers’ veil to wear – I think she was married in the 1910s – 1920s.
Every secondhand shop between here and Maryborough – for their books and teacups. Especially the MS shop in Dutton Park!
All the friends and family members who helped set up the collection of stuff that turned into our wedding – and helped arrange flowers with me on Saturday and string 1000 hand folded paper cranes so that Brooks and I could make a wish. Brooks also folded 1000 paper stars that went on the tables.
Other suppliers… let’s hope I remember them all!
Hair and Makeup – Powder Room (wow, just… wow)
Dress – (vintage but beading by Venita Drennen) (Venita whipped up the beading on my dress three weeks before the wedding! There was a slight dry cleaning fail – I won’t name names – but she made it look like everything I wanted it to be!)
Venue – Lightspace (Jess was brilliant. And Lightspace… we loved it and there are no words.)
Caterer – Wine & Dine’m Catering (everything I threw at Lacee, she took in her stride. Food was fantastic – and, given the amount of times I changed the menu and the storage requests, she got it perfectly!)
Lighting – AVIdeas (Greg and Chris always make Lightspace look its best and our wedding was no exception)
Cake – Cakes by Judy C (I found an idea on Pinterest – Brooks found Judy, and Judy turned the idea into something classy and amazing!)
Tables/Chairs/Plates – Little Gray Station (their furniture was just perfect and they were so easy to work with!)
Bouquets – Artificial Floral Boutique (Danielle turned my random origami ideas into a reality.)
Barber for Brooks – The Emporium Barber
Suit for Brooks – M.J.Bale
Brooks’ Ring – Dimani Jewellery (Matt (jeweller) is an absolute lifesaver – he found us a substitute ring, resized and polished it two days before the wedding!)
