Happy New Year!!! I can’t believe it is 2011 already – where did 2010 go? I have to say I have been dreading it because with it brings a certain birthday that I don’t really want to deal with. Anyhow you get older – it happens – you deal with it. Ho hum.
We are still on holidays but wanted to share with you our top 11 wedding snaps from 2010. It was going to be our top 10 but we were having a really hard time cutting it down (with much passion on Jason’s end and much pleading on mine) so our top 11 it is. These are presented in no particular order but they are just the photographs that spoke to us best so here they are –
It looks like a triptych but was actually the window frame. Damien and the boys look ready to rumble (in a good way, if you know what I mean) but relaxed and natural. Just the type of photograph Jason likes to take.
Such an ethereal shot – beautifully backlit and in keeping with the Darb Bridal confection Rebecca is wearing. I love the fact that Rebecca’s hair is loose and wavy – not many brides go for a relaxed hairstyle and in this case it was just perfect. Great job you lovelies at The Powder Room!
Getting ready is such a big deal on your wedding day – we just couldn’t choose which photos are our favourites. But this one says it all – new shoes, big step, new life – anxiety, contemplation, peace. I think these photos from Graham and Louise‘s wedding are authentic and austere. Beautiful.
I love how this image captures the seriousness of the moment – that stillness that happens just before a bride walks down the aisle. The religious painting on the left juxtaposed with the smiling faces of Jacqueline and her dad to me conveys the transition all brides and grooms make in their lives after they marry. Symbolically, this image captures the crossing over the threshold of the church from your old life alone into your new lives together.
I love the photos after the ceremony – everyone looks so overjoyed and happy. I guess because they are married but also because they didn’t spike a mickey and end up flat on their faces in the aisle! This photo does just that – love, joy and pure relief! Bring on the party!!
This wedding was an absolute STUNNER – styled beautifully by the bride, Laura – with every detail taken into account. Yet the photograph that speaks to me most is this one. I guess because it says to me that at the end of the day it really is just the two of you looking at each other and tackling the great unknown of life. Ah love – I can’t get enough of it!

Natalie (and Chris) had to climb under a roller door in the dirt and mud to get this picture. Respect! And in your wedding dress!!! You guys ROCK! And what a great picture it is.
Jason can make the most mundane (grotty, ugly, seedy perhaps?) backgrounds look amazing. Here is a couple of water tanks and – voila – beautiful wedding photographs of Johanna and Sam. Relaxed, contemporary, natural, stylish – just like them!
I have already waxed lyrical about this picture at John and Chrystalla‘s wedding. I just love the action and excitement!!! And this was just at the beginning of the night – can you imagine how much fun was going on later?
Last but not least my good friends Wilhelmina and Rob‘s wedding. This photograph sums up your wedding day – a big fantastic whirling blur of love, laughter and happiness. Here’s to having a great 2011 – I hope you achieve all you want to achieve and that the road is paved with fun, good friends and happiness.
