Brisbane Wedding Photography – Rob + Rebecca

September 26th, 2010

Well wedding season is in full swing and I am getting mighty over being the only one who cleans up around here (Jason keeps using the excuse that he has a wedding to shoot but really – does that mean he can’t pick up his own socks???)  Rob and Rebecca’s wedding was last week – I have been looking forward to it because the engagement photos were so lovely and it didn’t disappoint.  So, so beautiful and relaxed – they looked divine!  As an aside when we were shooting their engagement portrait I asked Rob how he proposed:

We were travelling in Italy with Bec’s parents exploring the amazing Amalfi Coast.  I had already sought permission from Bec’s parents and now it was about organising the most glamorous proposal possible.  The plan was to go for a picnic lunch at a lovely little beach just near Sorrento, however on arrival at the beach a quick change of plan had to occur due to the rubbish and an aggressive Italian restauranteur.

The proposal location was changed to a cliff top bar where we took in a stunning sunset over the Amalfi coastline.  Wearing my new Fedora hat (which I had become quite attached to) I went down on one knee and told Bec that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

It was only after the fourth “Are you serious?”  that she realised that I was very serious.  Perhaps it was the Fedora hat that made it seem like a hoax. (Rob – Jason proposed to me while I was wearing a bike helmet so I know what you mean!) We stopped on the walk home to buy a 5 euro interim engagement ring from a wooden cart on a cobbled alleyway.  Who knew cubic zirconia could be so priceless…

And now here they are – married – and no crazy headwear in sight!

Byron Bay Wedding Photography – Travers + Rodica

September 21st, 2010

This is a wedding with a twist for us because we were actually GUESTS!!!  This is something very foreign to me because while I am often a guest at weddings it is hardly ever with Jason by my side.  He is usually shooting away and I only get to see him after the cake is cut and the toasts made.  Habits are hard to break and while he did take some photos as you can see we managed to spend most of the night together to well wish our lovely friends Travers and Rodica into their new life together.

They held their wedding at heaven-on-earth – literally – in Byron Bay and we were lucky enough to get an invite to stay on the beach with them in these gorgeous little cabins.  This is the view from our bedroom window – unbelieveable – complete with whales and dolphins everyday.

Travers is a graphic designer and did the gorgeous invitations, place cards, menus, thank you cards and wine labels.  His company Bandwagon offers this service to brides so feel free to email him to see what he can do for you.

Rodica looked absolutely gorgeous in her pale pink sleek confection made by the fabulous Suzanne Smith who also planned the whole event impeccably and with just the right amount of comfortable glamour and style.

Everything was divine – great food, engaging company and rocking music – with the groom even doing some rocking out on his own!!  Keep your ear out for a comeback of  – Sonic Tapestry – you heard it here first!

welcome
